This is a manual for making people disciples-consistent followers-adherents of the LORD Jesus Christ.
This guide booklet had been made in response to the Lord Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations. Thus, since the scope of discipling is global, we must do all efforts to achieve this end, for Christ.
All the teachings to be learned and contained herein are consistent with all the teachings of the Bible, yet the compiled lessons laid down in this booklet are mere reverberations-echoes-repetitions of certain Bible teachings, chosen and simplified for easy comprehension and facilitated conveyance-impartation-transmission.
The Personal Discipleship Guide or simply PDG discusses 7 Lessons.
Lesson I- Sin and Salvation;
Lesson II- Repentance and Forgiveness;
Lesson III- Lordship and Obedience;
Lesson IV- Bible;
Lesson V- Prayer;
Lesson VI- Feeding and Fellowship;
Lesson VII- Victorious Life in Christ;
Lessons I & II– are Evangelism (winning the lost for Jesus Christ) guides.
The center-heart-essence-substance-sum of evangelism:
- The sinfulness of the humankind;
- Salvation in Christ alone;
The name Jesus simply means Salvation (Yeshua in Hebrew).
If anyone will ask you to define Salvation in one word, the answer is simple: Jesus.
Salvation= Jesus alone.
Hence, once you have truly received Jesus in your life, you are already saved (John 1:12; Matthew 1:21; Acts 4:10, 12).
Lesson III– teaches the principles-rudiments of discipling people under the Lordship of Jesus, making them submissive-subservient-servile to Him (2 Corinthians 10:5; Matthew 4:10; Colossians 3:23-24; Philippians 2:9-11; Acts 10:36; Psalm 119:91).
Lesson IV– is about upholding-yielding to-continuing in the words of Jesus (John 8:31; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-6; Acts 17:11).
Lesson V– is about communing-conversing with Jesus, since an intimate and healthy relationship involves communication.
Lesson VI– involves Christian maturity achieved through interactive efforts among believers and the Lord Jesus Christ.
There must be an intermingling and interaction between and among church members to achieve spiritual nurturing or nourishment, with the help of the Lord Jesus (of course).
When Christians gather in Christ, it is for building up-edifying-encouraging-uplifting-enlightening-informing one another. It is for growth in the grace and the knowledge of our “Good” Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18A).
Lesson VII– is about an overcoming or triumphant Christian life, which will serve as a living epistle or letter read by people, that will create in them a thirst or longing for Christ. This can only be realized “in” and “through” Christ (John 16:33; Romans 8:35-39).
After learning these 7 Lessons in the PDG, we can now venture into deeper waters as we proceed into the deep, in order to fish for men (Matthew 4:19; Mark 1:17), with Christ’s enablement (Philippians 4:13; Psalm 31:24).
